Marcus Fischer is a musician & multimedia artist currently based in Portland, Oregon. With early beginnings in the LA independent music scene, Fischer moved from there to Olympia, Washington where in addition to drumming in various bands he found new opportunities to further experiment with sound, using tape loops and electronics. The journey led next to Portland, Oregon, where he continues to refine his experimentations. Field recordings, chance, and DIY instruments, coupled with acoustic instrumentation and visual art, define what has become Marcus’s minimal signature.
Marc Weidenbaum served as music supervisor and, with composer Taylor Deupree, co–sound designer on the documentary The Children Next Door, directed by Doug Block (Birch Street, 112 Weddings). He wrote the 33 1/3 book on Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works Volume II. In 1996 he founded Disquiet.com at the intersection of sound, art, and technology. Since 2012 he’s moderated the Disquiet Junto, an online community of weekly music/sonic projects that explore creative constraints. He’s exhibited sound art in Los Angeles, Manhattan, Dubai, and San Jose. He lives in San Francisco.
